Gait analysis and Biomechanical assessments
A vast number of patients attend the surgery complaining of a painful corn, a pair of flat feet, an aching tired foot, cramp in their calf muscles at night, a weak ankle, a painful knee etc without thinking about the actual cause of their problem. In this instance it is often recommended that they have a biomechanical assessment to ascertain the precise cause(s) of their problem. In such instances the patient will be examined from head to toe.
Certain observations are made for example; Are the shoulders dipping from one side to the other? Does the patient suffer from curvature of the spine? Are the patient's hips level? Is there evidence of the patient having knock knees? Are the heels of the patient inverted or everted? Is one leg longer than the other? This information is vital to the clinician in deciding how to treat the patient. While the patient is examined standing as well as walking, it will also be necessary to assess ranges of joint movements when the patient is on the examination couch.
As a result of such assessments patients are frequently prescribed orthotics or insoles or may simply be given advice and reassurance as to their condition. Please note that we can generally provide these custom made orthotics and insoles with two to three weeks.

These are synonomous to warts, except that they tend not to protrude beyond the level of the surrounding soft tissue.
This condition can generally fall into two categories; an involuted nail and an acute in growing toe nail.
A quick inspection of this foot will reveal a foot that has a low arch (or no arch) and a heel that turns outwards.
